Getting Started With WoW - Beginners Guide
Author: Joe O'Reilly
There is a lot of information available online about world of warcraft with tips and tricks for people who have been playing for awhile. Unfortunately, there is not much information made available for new players. This is a short article for those who are new to world of warcraft and need to know the basics.
There is a simple help menu within the game that can be accessed simply by clicking the button. By clicking on the flashing exclamation mark (!) at the bottom of the screen you can instantly access information on questing, training and combat.
To move your character all you have to do is use the arrow keys. As with almost all other games that are played on a Pc you can move your character with WASD keys.
If you are unfamiliar with any of the icons in your game interface just hold your mouse over it (without clicking) and an information box will appear telling you what it is.
When you encounter anything in the game that you can interact with, like another character, an object or a monster, then your mouse pointer will change indicating that you can interact with it.
To interact with something within the online world simply left click on it if you want to select it or right click for a list of interactive options.
As WoW is an online game you will need an internet connection and a WoW online account. When you have an account you can then choose which server (or realm) to play in. The server that you choose will depend greatly on how you want to play the game so it is wise to research the four different realms. It is a good idea to pick the normal realm to give yourself a chance to get used to the game play before you interact in the game at more experienced levels.
There are two factions the Alliance and the Horde. Whichever faction you pick will determine you game environment. After this you get to create your own personal character and can choose from 10 races and different classes. This means you could be a elf, the undead and train as a mage with magical powers or be a warrior and dominate the battlefield.
Be sure you read the naming protocols before you name your character or you may be penalised.
Don't worry about dying within the game -Â because it will happen a lot. You can be resurrected easily enough. A spirit healer will resurrect you in a cemetery as a ghost. You then must go out and find your body in order to re-enter it and play the game again.
When you want any additional help simply click on the Help request button to be connected to a Game Master who will be more than happy to address your issues.

Can anybody give me a good talent build for a PvP Fire Mage on WoW/World of Warcraft?
I think that your guy looks good, frost is not better!
how do i become a good undead fire mage in wow?
hi i went fire for my undead mage but im realy slow at pve and im useless at pvp im kinda a noob can someone give me some tips of what to do and how to pvp properly with fire im lvl 42. also what armour should i be getting so i can have max mana/health and so i dont get hit so much.
Fire is pretty much outright DPS so you really have nothing to protect you from mobs but your gear. You basically have to kill them before they get to you. Fire mages do better with a partner who can distract attention while they burn them down. A frost spec has more utility and crowd comtrol, but their DPS is lower overall. In the end though, you don’t do any DPS if you are dead, so frost might be a better choice if you solo a lot. Also most PvP mages go with Frost basically for the same reason. Even fire DPS isn’t enough to kill someone before they kill you if you have no crowd control to root them and keep them away from you.
How do i beat a rogue as a fire mage(Wow question)?
i have a lvl 70 fire mage. I PWN in pvp but the only class that i have a hard time beating to this day are the frikken back stabbers =). once they get a sap or a cheap shot on me they just go to town on my back. Let me know there weak points!!!
but if i see them b4 they vanish i own them good.
lvl 70 troll mage
for the horde!
The only way to beat a rogue with a fire mage is this:
- level 1 arcane blast to find out where they are invisible (takes up hardly any mana)
- Sheep twice (incase they break first it with insignia)
- Pyroblast
- Pom pyro
- Fire blast (instant fire ball thingy)
He should be dead by then…
If not, use blink and just fire blast him a few times, then hes dead.
Frost mage is better for rogue in my opinion because its effect slows down their speed and sometimes freezes their movement for a bit. Also Ice Block can be casted while ‘incapacitated’ which absorbs ALL attacks for 10 secs (but you cant move) then you can blink away and slow them and deal damage
NB: Pom pyro is an INSTANT CAST Pyroblast can can be obtained by a quest (It has a cooldown, but does not affect your casting pyroblast)
best answer please
WoW: Which mage build is best for PvP, Frost or Fire? and how should i do this?
i wanna be able to own everyone in the Dead mines and stuff like that. should i be frost or fire.
Age-old question: Frost, or Fire.
It depends on what you want more from PvP: Do you want to nuke things really fast, or do you want to have some survivability?
Unquestionably, Frost mages have a much higher rate of survival in PvP because they have more escape mechanisms, and can use their ice block more frequently.
Fire mages are great and definitely rock the damage, but find themselves running out of mana sooner than one would if they were arcane or frost.
So, if you are looking at pure damage: Fire.
If you are looking for tricks in PvP (and a pet): Frost.
Rocking the deadmines is easy either way. Just grab a group and go!
Check the Mage forums if you’re looking for strategies to level up quick, or for more heated (and icy) debate on Frost v. Fire.
